Bùi Vĩnh Phúc
Biography
Bùi Vĩnh Phúc was born in Hanoi and raised in Saigon. His journey in education and cultural exchange spans over decades, starting from his teaching career in Vietnamese and French literature in Vietnam from 1972 to 1977. In April 1978, Bui resettled in the United States, where he pursued higher education at Cal State University, Long Beach, and the University of California, Irvine, majoring in Linguistics.
Since 1989, Bui has been dedicated to teaching English, Language, and Vietnamese culture at various American universities within the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. Even after retirement, his passion for education and cultural exchange remains vibrant. Bui has shared his expertise on education and social psychology, as well as Vietnamese literature and language, through presentations at numerous universities in the US and forums on Vietnamese literature worldwide.
Bui worked in translation in various fields, including medicine, law, language, and social psychology, for the state of California and other esteemed research centers in the United States. In addition to translation, Bui is an avid writer, penning essays and literary criticism. He has authored eight published works and actively participates in literary and research communities as a member of editorial boards and a collaborator with domestic and international literary and research journals.
